Our investigations are fair, transparent and defensible – designed to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults while helping organisations meet their legal and ethical obligations.
We work across education, faith, disability, aged care and community sectors to deliver impartial investigations that uphold dignity, procedural fairness and compliance at every stage.
Our Approach
An effective safeguarding investigation requires both technical expertise and humanity. Our approach balances thorough, evidence-based processes with compassion for all participants involved. Every investigation we conduct is:
- Independent and impartial – led by licensed investigators with no organisational conflicts.
- Trauma-informed – ensuring participants are treated with respect, empathy and care.
- Procedurally fair – providing balanced opportunities to respond and be heard.
- Regulator-ready – compliant with state and federal safeguarding legislation.
We tailor every investigation to the organisation’s jurisdiction, governance framework and risk profile, ensuring both legal defensibility and ethical practice.
Our Investigation Services
Reportable Conduct Investigations
Safeguarding Services provides independent, procedurally fair investigations into reportable conduct allegations. We support schools, religious organisations, disability providers and child-related entities to meet their legal obligations under Reportable Conduct Schemes in Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and Tasmania.
A reportable conduct investigation is required when an allegation involves a worker, volunteer or religious leader in child-related misconduct or abuse. Our process ensures organisations comply with legislative requirements while maintaining transparency, fairness and survivor-centred practice.
Our Process:
- Preliminary Review and Triage – assess the allegation, confirm jurisdiction and reporting obligations.
- Investigation Planning – define scope, terms of reference and timelines.
- Evidence Collection and Interviews – gather documents, conduct trauma-informed interviews and analyse evidence.
- Findings and Final Report – determine substantiation using the civil standard of proof (balance of probabilities).
- Regulator Submission and Advisory Support – prepare and submit findings to the relevant authority (e.g. SSR, OCG, ACT Ombudsman)
